This article provides a look inside Vietnamese street food including pictures of the different street dishes we got to try during our travels.
We had an amazing time in Vietnam and one of the reasons it was so amazing (in addition to its beautiful country and culture) is the FOOOOOOD! I am quite a fan of Vietnamese food and was really looking forward for the “real” taste of the country. We were able to eat really good and tasty food for $1 a meal whenever we were eating street food. Though, always be cautious and look for the most popular and “clean” ones – some tips for eating street foods in Vietnam can be found here.

- Pho – beef/chicken broth rice noodle soup. A staple of Vietnamese cuisine, to be enjoyed at breakfast, lunch or dinner! 45,000VND ($2.25) in Hanoi

- 25,000VND ($1.25) for a full plate to be enjoyed with the locals.

- Bun Cha Gio – cold dish served with bun, salad and spring rolls. Fresh meal to cool off from the heat. Served with nuoc cham sauce.

- The biggest ban xeo I’ve ever had., in Can Tho. Ban Xeo is a Vietnamese crepe filled with bean sprouts, mint leaves, minced pork, shrimps. Delicious!

- Always love local refhreshments for under $1.

- Banh Beo – flat steamed rice cakes topped with dried or fried shrimps, scallions and nuoc cham sauce

- Street stand – look for the ones with long lines!

- Cao Lau – a MUST in Hoi An! The noodles are made using the water drawn from the town’s centuries-old wells! Served with simmered pork and herbs.

- A delicious seafood broth with rice noodles (7,000VND)

- A Cafe inside the Old CIty of Hué. We saw lots of locals there so we went. We got three dishes for 21,000VND ($1)

- Grilled clams in a restaurant in Mui Né for 75,000VND ( $3.750

- Mutton barbecue grill meal in Mui Né for 100,000VND ($5)

- Another delicious soup, with “bun”, rice vermicelli

- The more napkins on the ground, the more it means people come to this place. Good food indicator right here.

- Bird’s Nest Juice in a Can for 10,000VND ($0.50) – sure I’ll try that! — a little too sweet for my taste.

- Lunch at a street corner with the locals. The lady sitting and serving brings her dishes everyday at lunch time.

- Fried rice cakes with bean sprouts for 20,000VND ($1)

- Hoi An serves fresh beer for $0.25 a pint. Perfect apéro to enjoy the sunset view on the river.
